The Owl and the Pussycat

Ages 5-11
Duration 30 - 40 Mins
Cast Size 15–30+
Musical Styles Tango, Sea Shanty, Hoedown and Ballad
An unlikely Pair of Creatures

This humorous musical is based on Edward Lear’s well-loved poem. It follows the adventures of an impulsive young Owl and Pussycat, after they decide to sail away together, much to the disapproval of their friends and relations. At one stage in their hazardous voyage, the Owl is tempted to fly off when their boat is stranded! But once they land, they have a slap-up wedding, officiated over by a Turkey and Piggywig.  All their friends and relations are invited to come and dance the tango!
The Owl and Pussycat have an Owl-Cat child - and probably several more! In their old age they run a seaside hotel in with the help of the Turkey and Piggywig - 'The Turkey's gone deaf and works as a chef and totters around on his toes, While Piggywig's able to wait at the table and balance a plate on her nose! So if ever you choose to go off on a cruise, you may like to stop on the way, The Owl and the Pussycat asked me to say, you're welcome to drop in and stay!'
This quirky show explores differences, similarities and cooperation in an entertaining way.
